Preparing for Surgery
Check with your physician if you should discontinue any medications prior to your surgery date.
A registered nurse will call you prior to your scheduled surgery date to give instructions and ask some questions about your medical history, as well as which medications, if any, you are taking on a regular basis.
Heath and Hygiene Tips
- Bath or shower on the morning of your surgery to minimize the risk of infection.
- You may brush your teeth (using a small amount of water) and use mouthwash the morning of your surgery.
- Notify us immediately if you experience any change in health, such as a cold or elevated temperature.
On your surgery day, you will be interviewed by a representative from our Anesthesiology Department. They will review medical history, lab work or other resting ordered prior to surgery and they may ask about your physical condition.
Clothing and Personal Possessions
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes for when you leave the facility.
- Do not wear make-up, nail polish, creams or lotions.
- A patient gown will be provided to you prior to surgery.
